Our crèche service is available to all customers of the South West Sports Centre. It provides a caring environment for your children to enjoy themselves whilst you are making use of the facilities.

Please be advised our crèche is not a licensed child care service under the Children and Community Services Act 2004. It is a condition of use that parents must remain within the centre at all times whilst the children are attending creche.

To ensure a safe and quality visit, we have designed the following guidelines:

  • Parents must remain within the South West Sports Centre whilst children are in the crèche
  • Bookings are essential and must be made at least 24 hours prior to attendance
  • Please phone to cancel your booking if you are unable to attend
  • An enrolment form must be completed for each child prior to their first crèche visit
  • Children must be signed in on the attendance register and signed out on departure
  • Children can only be collected by the parent who signs them in, unless a prior arrangement has been made with staff
  • If your child has suffered from a communicable disease, a doctor's clearance is required before he/she can return to the crèche
  • Should your child become distressed while in the crèche all attempts will be made to settle him/her however, you may be requested to attend to your child
  • In the event of an emergency, staff will evacuate children from the danger area. Once all children are accounted for and in a safe location, parents may then collect their children
  • Please feel free to visit our childcare facility to discuss your child's needs with our qualified staff.

Creche bookings can be made by phoning the creche direct line on (08) 9795 2246

Developing gross motor skills is an essential part of every child’s development. Children start developing their gross motor skills from birth and rapidly increase their abilities throughout the preschool years. The skills children need for optimum gross motor development include rolling, reaching, sitting, crawling, walking, climbing, balancing, running, jumping, catching, throwing and striking. These fundamental gross motor skills will assist children’s lifelong ability to participate in physical activity including sport and other recreational pursuits.

Children (and adults) need to be active every single day and those who get sufficient exercise show the benefits immediately. They tend to behave better than children who are cooped up and unable to release their energy, sleep soundly, have good appetites, and some studies even show that children who remain active become bright, well-focused students.

Kindy Gym (2-5yrs) – a gymnastics based program aimed at developing gross motor skills. Parent participation is required.

Kindy Sports (2-5yrs) – a sports based program aimed at developing gross motor skills, co-ordination and self confidence. Parent participation is required.
